IGA Discipline Committees

The Independent Gymnastics Association (IGA) is thrilled to introduce our new Discipline Committees, launching in 2025! These committees are a pivotal part of our mission to grow and enhance the IGA community, with a focus on inclusivity, opportunity, and excellence at all levels and ages.

Our Discipline Committees will consist of dedicated advocates committed to expanding gymnastics opportunities for children of all abilities. They will work closely with the IGA to prioritise inclusive practices, support competition development, and promote high-quality educational pathways for coaches and judges. By creating competition handbooks, assisting in organising national events, and shaping education programs, these committees will help ensure that IGA’s values are reflected in every aspect of our community.

If you’re passionate about supporting gymnastics in a meaningful way, check out our Committee Guidelines below to learn more about the role, expectations, and how to apply! Together, we can build a welcoming and empowering environment for all.

Committee roles are voluntary; however, honorarium forms will be provided at a daily rate for those who manage IGA competitions.

How can I provide input or feedback to the committee?

Feedback and suggestions are always welcome. You can submit all feedback through our online form. This will be provided to you once all discipline committee members have been filled.

How are decisions made within the committee?

Decisions are made through a voting process or by consensus, depending on the nature of the issue. For major decisions, input from all members is considered, and at times, broader feedback may be gathered from the community. IGA will override any decisions that do not align with the IGA ethos.

How often does the committee meet?

The committee typically meet around 6-8 times a year, but additional meetings may be scheduled as needed, especially during peak project periods or in response to specific issues.

How are committee members selected?

Committee members are  appointed based on expertise, experience and location ensuring IGA holds a representative from each area. The selection aims to represent diverse perspectives and relevant skills.

What is the role of the committee?

The committee oversees the planning, organisation, and support of events and programs within each discipline. It ensures that activities align with IGA objectives, upholds standards, and addresses any arising concerns.
