Disclosure Barring Service

Independent Gymnastics is registered with an online DBS organisation called Care Check. Care Check are registered with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) formerly known as the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB).

Care check are a leading umbrella body for the Disclosure and Barring Service and has been named one of the top 8 providers for criminal record checks in the UK. They work with a plethora of industry sectors from independent care homes, schools and NHS trusts.

Those who are aged 16 and over who are working with or supervising children and / or vulnerable adults are required to have a DBS check carried out, this includes Coaches, Volunteers and Welfare Officers. Those who ONLY judge at competitions and DO NOT provide instruction to or supervise children and / or vulnerable adults in any other capacity in your club, do not require a DBS check, but MUST be registered as a judge with IGA.

Complete your online DBS application

  1. Visit www.carecheck.co.uk/applicant-login

  2. Read the important note on the appropriate level of check

  3. Click the grey box to acknowledge you have done step 3, and press submit

  4. Enter the company Organisation Reference of INDEPENDENTGYMNASTICS

  5. You do NOT need a code for this section, please leave this

  6. Acknowledge you have the read the “Statement of Fair processing”.

  7. Proceed to fill out information requested

  8. Give consent to the information provided.

  9. Please provide your clubs DBS officer with the reference that appears on screen along with your ID documents so they can be verified.

  10. Once verified the DBS officer needs to email a signed copy of the ID documents and the reference to safeguarding@igauk.com. Once received a member of the IGA team will then complete the DBS application.
