The 2025/26 university gymnastics season has been celebrated as one of the most successful and positive seasons in recent years, marking a major step forward for the future of university gymnastics across the UK.
This season saw 31 universities affiliate and participate across the national university structure, with students from across the country continuing to prove that competitive gymnastics can successfully be balanced alongside the demands of university life and academic study.
Throughout the season, universities worked together to help strengthen and rebuild the university gymnastics pathway, with clubs rallying together to host competitions, provide judges, volunteer at events, and support one another in ensuring opportunities remained available for student gymnasts at all levels.
A major driving force behind the success of the season has been UK Competition Organiser, Robyn Adams, whose dedication, leadership, and organisation have played a significant role in helping to secure, develop, and stabilise university gymnastics moving forward. From event planning and league coordination through to supporting hosts and students throughout the season, her commitment has been instrumental in helping the university structure continue to grow.
The standard of gymnastics throughout the season was exceptional, with competitions catering for a huge range of abilities — from novice gymnasts competing for the very first time, through to athletes performing at FIG level. Events showcased the depth of talent currently competing within university gymnastics, while also highlighting the welcoming and inclusive environment the university pathway continues to provide.
Competitions were held at fantastic venues across the UK including York, Manchester and Portsmouth, creating professional and enjoyable experiences for athletes, coaches, judges, and spectators alike. The season culminated in a highly successful National Finals event hosted in Leicester, which brought together universities from both the North and South leagues for an exciting finale to the competition year.
One of the most positive aspects of the season has been the strong sense of community seen throughout university gymnastics. Across every event, students demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship, teamwork, and support for one another, helping to create an atmosphere that truly reflected the values of the university gymnastics community.
The season also highlighted the continued importance of providing opportunities for students to remain involved in the sport while pursuing higher education. For many athletes, university gymnastics offers the opportunity to continue competing, coaching, judging, and remaining connected to the gymnastics community during an important stage of life.
Following consistent performances throughout the year, Loughborough University secured the overall league points title for the 2025/26 season, rounding off an impressive year of competition.
With growing participation numbers, strong university engagement, high-quality competitions, and continued collaboration across the country, the future of university gymnastics is looking incredibly positive.
Planning is already underway for next season, with hopes of continuing to expand opportunities, strengthen competitions, and build on the momentum created throughout this landmark year for university gymnastics.
