A New Chapter for the University Gymnastics Cup — Now Run by IGA

We are excited to announce that the University Gymnastics Cup (UGC) will now be run by  IGA, marking a new chapter in the journey of this much-loved university gymnastics competition.

Honouring the UGC Legacy

Since its creation, the UGC has built an incredible reputation for bringing together university gymnasts from all over the UK, providing a welcoming, inclusive, and competitive environment for athletes of all abilities.

We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank the previous organisers of UGC for all their hard work, dedication, and vision in developing and growing the league into what it is today. Their efforts have created a thriving community and an important platform for university gymnasts to shine — and we are proud to continue building on this strong foundation.

Why IGA?

At IGA, our mission has always been to support gymnastics at every level — from grassroots to elite — with inclusive, affordable, and professional opportunities. By taking on the running of UGC, we aim to support its continued success, ensuring university gymnasts can keep enjoying everything that makes UGC so special, while benefitting from IGA’s organisational and operational expertise.

What This Means for UGC

  • Continuity & Growth: UGC events and competitions will continue as usual, with the same focus on inclusivity and fun, now with additional support from IGA.

  • Enhanced Support: Clubs and universities will have access to IGA’s wider resources, including insurance, coaching, judging, and event management support.

  • Community Focus: We are committed to maintaining the friendly, community-driven spirit of UGC while looking for ways to improve and evolve the experience for all participants.

A UGC Committee — Coming Soon

To ensure that UGC continues to reflect the needs and voices of its community, IGA will soon be opening up a UGC Committee. This committee will bring together representatives from universities and the wider gymnastics community to guide, support, and help shape the future direction of UGC. More details about how to get involved will be shared in the coming weeks — we encourage anyone passionate about university gymnastics to consider taking part.

What’s Next?

  • As we move through this transition, we kindly ask for your patience and understanding while we work hard to make the changeover as smooth as possible, there may be small adjustments along the way — and we truly appreciate your support as we settle into this new chapter together.

  • Universities should ensure their affiliation and insurance are up-to-date — IGA can assist with this process if needed.

  • We’re here to help with any questions about entries, judging, coaching, or logistics — please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Looking Ahead

We are proud to support and strengthen the UGC, and we look forward to working with the incredible university gymnastics community to continue its success.

Thank you again to everyone who has helped shape UGC into the fantastic league it is today — we are honoured to be entrusted with carrying it forward.

Here’s to the next chapter:
UGC — Still UGC. Now with IGA.
