December saw two fantastic University Gymnastics (UGC) competitions take place, bringing universities together to celebrate talent, teamwork, and the spirit of student gymnastics.
The South Regional UGC Competition was hosted in Portsmouth on 7 December, followed closely by the North Regional competition in York on 14 December. Both events showcased impressive performances across the board, with gymnasts competing from Novice through to FIG levels, highlighting the depth of talent within university gymnastics.
It was especially exciting to see new skills performed, with athletes pushing themselves while receiving admirable support from teammates and rival universities alike. The atmosphere throughout both competitions was laid-back yet highly enjoyable, creating an environment where gymnasts could thrive and spectators could truly enjoy the sport.
Universities worked together to provide judges and coaches, ensuring the events ran safely and smoothly. This collaborative effort played a huge role in making both competitions an absolute success. IGA were delighted to support university gymnastics and remain committed to helping the sport continue to grow.
The team are now calculating league points to determine which university is currently leading the way, and we look forward to sharing the results soon.
